Smart Garage and The Oriental Insurance Company Limited launch a cashless, AI-driven claims process across India, aiming to streamline repairs and expand access in Tier-3 and Tier-4 towns.
Smart Garage has announced a nationwide partnership with The Oriental Insurance Company Limited aimed at speeding up motor claims and making repairs more predictable for policyholders across India. The tie-up is being positioned as a cashless service model that links Oriental Insurance’s motor cover with Smart Garage’s digital workshop network, with the companies saying the arrangement is designed to reduce paperwork, delays and surprise costs for drivers after accidents or breakdowns.
The companies say the main benefit will be direct billing at participating workshops, allowing eligible customers to move through repairs without paying upfront and reclaiming expenses later. Smart Garage says its system will provide digital damage estimates, surveyor tracking, repair updates and final quality checks through a single workflow. The company also says the model will rely on artificial intelligence-assisted pre-inspection and tighter coordination with surveyors to shorten turnaround times.
Oriental Insurance already offers motor cover for private vehicles, fleets and commercial users, including comprehensive policies that protect against loss or damage caused by accidents, fire, theft and malicious acts, as well as third-party liability cover for injury or property damage. The insurer also publishes policy documents, garage information and claim guidance for customers, underscoring the importance of a clearer claims process as competition intensifies in India’s motor insurance market.
The partnership also reflects a broader push by insurers and auto service networks to reach customers beyond major cities. Oriental Insurance has built a strong presence in smaller towns, and recent industry moves, including Citroën India’s separate tie-up with the insurer, have highlighted the value of widening access to motor insurance and claims support in Tier-3 and Tier-4 markets. Smart Garage says it now has more than 500 partner garages and is aiming to expand its network sharply over the coming years, while also supporting electric vehicles.
