NPCI BHIM Services has introduced MyUPI, an AI-powered conversational tool integrated within the BHIM Payments App, providing Indian UPI users with 24/7 multi-language support and enhanced security features to boost trust and ease of use.
NPCI BHIM Services has introduced MyUPI, a conversational artificial intelligence assistant built into the BHIM Payments App, in a move aimed at making day-to-day support for United Payments Interface users simpler and more secure. Launched at Global Fintech Fest 2026, the tool is designed to give customers round-the-clock help in several Indian languages, while keeping key payment actions behind the usual UPI PIN authentication.
According to the company, MyUPI brings a range of common services into one chat-style interface, including transaction history, complaint tracking, mandate management and fraud-awareness guidance. Users can also verify payee names by entering a UPI ID or scanning a QR code, and can re-initiate eligible peer-to-peer and merchant payments with fresh authorisation. The assistant currently supports English, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Bengali, with access available through the Quick Actions section of the app.
The new feature also includes a Safety Switch that allows users to block a linked bank account if they suspect their phone has been lost, their account has been compromised or an unauthorised debit has appeared. BHIM says the assistant can help people pause, resume or cancel eligible Autopay mandates, as well as de-link a mobile number. It also surfaces information on common UPI fraud techniques and scam messages, reflecting the wider push across India’s digital payments ecosystem to improve user protection as transaction volumes grow.
Lalitha Nataraj, managing director and chief executive of NPCI BHIM Services, said MyUPI was intended to strengthen trust while making digital payments easier, safer and more accessible. That message fits a broader trend in India’s payments market, where institutions are increasingly pairing rapid adoption with added security tools and more intuitive customer support, especially for users who may be navigating digital finance for the first time.
