J&K Bank accelerates insurance relief with Rs 2.55 crore payout for bereaved families

The Jammu and Kashmir Bank has swiftly settled a Rs 2.55 crore life insurance claim for the family of a deceased high-net-worth customer, continuing its efforts to provide financial stability to families across the region through prompt settlement of insurance claims.

J&K Bank has helped settle life insurance claims worth Rs 2.55 crore for the legal heirs of a deceased high-net-worth customer at its Residency Road branch in Srinagar, according to Greater Kashmir. The payout covered several policies and was presented as a means of easing the family’s financial strain after the customer’s death.

At a ceremony marking the settlement, the bank’s Srinagar zonal head, Sheikh Mohammad Muzaffar, and Irfan Ali Zargar, associate director and relationship head at PNB MetLife, handed a symbolic cheque to Residency Road branch head Tajamul Qadri. The event was also attended by project head Sheikh Yasir Arafat, regional manager Sajid Ali Khan and zonal insurance coordinator Tahseena.

Muzaffar said the settlement showed how insurance can provide stability when families face loss, while urging customers to review their protection needs regularly and choose appropriate cover through the bank. Zargar said each claim reflected the trust placed in the insurer and described prompt settlement as part of its commitment to policyholders and their families.

The Srinagar payout comes as J&K Bank has repeatedly highlighted insurance-backed relief for bereaved families across Jammu and Kashmir. The Kashmir Monitor reported that the bank recently settled Rs 2.31 crore in MetLoan & Life Suraksha claims for 58 families in its Doda zone, while other local reports said similar claims worth Rs 2.34 crore in Udhampur and Rs 2.02 crore in Kathua were also paid to dozens of families. Separately, The Economic Times reported in January that the bank sold a 0.5% stake in PNB MetLife for Rs 120 crore, trimming its holding to 2.5% without affecting control of the insurer.
