The Enforcement Directorate conducted coordinated raids across five sites in Bihar’s Munger district as part of an investigation into a digital investment scheme allegedly involving money laundering and fraudulent practices linked to a private music company in Jamalpur.
The Enforcement Directorate has raided five sites in Bihar’s Munger district as part of a money-laundering probe into an alleged investment fraud linked to a private music company based in Jamalpur and nearby areas. Officials said the search operation, carried out by the Patna zonal office under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, was still under way on Thursday at premises connected to people named in the case.
According to officials, the alleged scheme promised participants a “digital job” and the chance to double their money. Investors were allegedly told they could earn Rs 15,000 a month after putting in Rs 2,56,500 and viewing 4,800 audio and video files on the company’s website each month, with extra rewards for higher activity. The company is also said to have dangled bikes and cars as incentives for those who recruited large numbers of new investors.
Investigators said the operation was designed to become impossible to complete once money had been collected. After the deposits came in, the company’s software engineer allegedly slowed the website deliberately, preventing users from finishing the required tasks and qualifying for payouts. The case was first registered at Munger police station on November 18, 2024, and a chargesheet has already been filed.
The raid adds to a growing list of Enforcement Directorate actions in Bihar and elsewhere targeting alleged financial frauds and laundering networks. In recent cases, the agency has searched premises in Muzaffarpur over suspected bank-account fraud and carried out operations in cyber-fraud, recruitment and tender-related scams, underscoring the scale of economic crime investigations now moving through its regional offices.
