SBI surpasses ₹24,000 crore profit mark with robust Q1 growth and improved asset quality

State Bank of India reports a 13.73% rise in consolidated net profit for June quarter, driven by higher income and lower bad loan provisions, as shares react positively.

State Bank of India reported a 13.73% rise in consolidated net profit for the June quarter, with earnings reaching ₹24,113 crore, according to a regulatory filing on Friday. That compared with ₹21,201.47 crore a year earlier and ₹19,642.87 crore in the previous quarter.

On a standalone basis, the lender’s profit increased 10.23% year on year to ₹21,121.22 crore from ₹19,160.44 crore in the April-June period of 2025. Total income climbed to ₹1.43 lakh crore from ₹1.35 lakh crore a year earlier, while total expenditure rose to ₹1.10 lakh crore from ₹1.04 lakh crore.

The bank also reported a sharp fall in provisions for bad loans, which declined to ₹3,359 crore from ₹4,934 crore a year earlier, though they were above the ₹3,140 crore set aside in the prior quarter. Its gross non-performing assets ratio improved to 1.47% as of June 30, 2026, compared with 1.49% at the end of March and 1.83% a year earlier.

Capital strength remained solid, with the overall capital adequacy ratio at 15.67% and the core buffer at 12.89%. SBI shares were trading 2.13% higher at ₹1,108 on the BSE after the results.
