MV Electrosystems Limited’s shares surged above issue price on debut, driven by overwhelming demand in a highly subscribed IPO, highlighting investor confidence in the electrical manufacturing sector’s growth prospects.
MV Electrosystems Limited made a strong market debut on Thursday, with its shares listing well above the issue price and ending the day with further gains. The stock opened at ₹520 on the National Stock Exchange, a premium of 22.35% to the ₹425 offer price, and finished at ₹624. On the Bombay Stock Exchange, it started at ₹519 and closed at ₹622.75, giving IPO investors a first-day gain of ₹199 per share.
The listing capped a period of heavy demand for the offering. The ₹290 crore issue was subscribed 200.66 times overall, according to the company’s market data, with especially strong interest from non-institutional investors, whose portion was subscribed 397.99 times. Retail demand was also robust at 218.25 times, while qualified institutional buyers took up 96.13 times their reserved allocation.
Founded in 2009, MV Electrosystems designs, develops, assembles and manufactures electrical and power electronics equipment. The company focuses on propulsion systems and cable protection and management products, and it also operates an in-house research and development centre. Proceeds from the issue are earmarked for long-term working capital, new product research and development and general corporate purposes.
The debut comes at a time when investors continue to reward offerings linked to industrial manufacturing and electrical equipment, particularly where companies can point to in-house engineering capability and expansion plans. In MV Electrosystems’ case, the scale of subscription suggests that investors were betting not just on a sharp listing gain but also on the company’s longer-term growth story.
