BEML Limited’s first-quarter revenue surged by 29%, with net losses narrowing and EBITDA turning positive for the first time in 10 years, driven by increased orders and robust execution.
BEML Limited said its first-quarter revenue rose 29% from a year earlier to ₹819.62 crore in the April-June period, as the state-owned defence and engineering company trimmed its losses and moved its operating earnings into positive territory. According to the company’s unaudited results, net loss narrowed to ₹27.01 crore from ₹64.11 crore in the same quarter last year, while loss before tax fell to ₹33.71 crore from ₹70.28 crore.
The improvement was driven by stronger execution and a jump in orders. BEML said value of production reached ₹777 crore, up 16% year on year, while order inflow climbed 172% to ₹1,181 crore. Mining and Construction accounted for ₹589 crore of new orders, Defence contributed ₹581 crore and Rail and Metro added ₹11 crore, giving the company a larger base of work going into the rest of the year.
A notable milestone was earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation, or EBITDA, which BEML said turned positive at ₹3 crore. The company described that as its first positive first-quarter EBITDA in 10 years. At the end of June, BEML’s order book stood at ₹16,284 crore, offering revenue visibility across its defence, rail and mining businesses. The board also recommended a revised final dividend of ₹12.28 per share for FY26, including the ₹0.55 per share payout it had proposed on May 29.
