Odisha's latest investment push aims to accelerate industrial growth and job creation

Odisha has attracted Rs 66,392 crore in investment proposals during a two-day Delhi outreach, signalling a surge in its efforts to become a manufacturing and clean energy hub with new projects and job opportunities.

Odisha has drawn investment proposals worth Rs 66,392 crore after a two-day outreach drive in the Delhi-NCR region, with the state saying the projects could create about 54,135 jobs. The latest haul adds to a run of aggressive investment promotion by the government of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, which has been courting companies across manufacturing, textiles, engineering and aluminium.

According to the state government, 38 memoranda of understanding were signed during the visit, while 46 senior-level meetings were held with representatives from 208 industries. Officials said the discussions centred on new industrial projects in Odisha and on the support needed to speed up implementation once investors commit.

Majhi also visited a manufacturing plant in Noida, where he met company representatives and pressed the case for Odisha as a base for a new white goods manufacturing ecosystem. “Our industries, MSMEs, and skill development teams are ready to support a new white goods manufacturing ecosystem with Haier as the anchor investor. Today’s meeting with you is just a beginning. We will continue to engage with you. We hope Haier will find huge opportunities in Odisha with a long-term vision. Thank you for this wonderful hosting. I look forward to welcoming the Haier leadership to Odisha. Come to Odisha and become a part of the new growth story of India,” he said.

The Delhi drive is the latest in a string of major outreach efforts by the state this year. In February, Odisha secured about ₹67,000 crore in renewable energy commitments, including plans for 6.8 gigawatts of capacity across wind, solar, hybrid systems with storage, pumped storage hydropower and green hydrogen. In May, the state said it had won investment commitments worth ₹48,330 crore in Gujarat, and in January it announced proposals and commitments of more than ₹1 lakh crore during a roadshow in Kolkata. Odisha’s government has also cleared several large projects in 2026, underlining its push to position the state as an industrial hub with a growing base in advanced manufacturing and clean energy.
