BRICS nations have adopted a joint declaration focused on advancing practical industrial collaboration, innovation, and resilience, marking a shift from broad promises to actionable plans under India’s chairship at the 10th Industry Ministers’ Meeting in Jaipur.
India’s chairship of BRICS has delivered a joint declaration on industrial cooperation after ministers from the bloc met in Jaipur on August 6 to frame a more practical agenda for manufacturing, innovation and resilience.
According to the report from Siasat, the 10th BRICS Industry Ministers’ Meeting brought together ministers and senior officials from member countries under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”. The declaration was presented as a signal that the group wants to move beyond broad pledges and towards deliverable industrial cooperation.
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal told the gathering that BRICS countries should turn ambition into workable innovation and joint action, arguing that their different industrial strengths can be combined to build stronger sectors. He pointed to the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution, known as PartNIR, as a central channel for that cooperation.
Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada also said India remained committed to deeper industrial ties across the grouping, stressing cooperation, innovation and trust as the basis for a more inclusive industrial future. Officials said India’s chairship had already advanced several PartNIR initiatives, including a framework for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, terms of reference and an action plan for a photovoltaic industry working group, and a growth plan aimed at startups.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of transport and logistics systems in making industry more resilient, including GIS-based infrastructure planning and city logistics. The declaration followed earlier BRICS industry ministerial meetings, which have repeatedly focused on digital transformation, MSME cooperation and supply-chain resilience, showing how the bloc has been gradually widening its industrial agenda.
India is also hosting the 16th BRICS Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Jaipur on August 7, where officials said the agenda includes trade cooperation, stronger multilateral trading systems, greater MSME participation in global trade, more resilient supply chains and cross-border digital services.
