Credai Tamil Nadu praises budget's growth-focused reforms and infrastructure investments

Credai Tamil Nadu welcomes the state’s 2026-27 Budget, highlighting its potential to accelerate economic growth through streamlined project approvals, increased public spending on social infrastructure, and support for housing demand, while calling for further incentives to bolster affordable housing.

CREDAI Tamil Nadu has welcomed the state government’s Budget for 2026-27, describing it as a forward-looking plan that could strengthen administration and support long-term economic expansion. In a statement issued in Chennai on August 6, the industry body said the budget’s wider ambition to build a USD 1.5 trillion economy by 2036 was encouraging and showed a clear intent to accelerate growth across sectors.

The association gave particular approval to the government’s push for quicker project clearances through the delegation of powers, saying the change could reduce delays, lower financing costs and help homes and commercial developments reach the market faster. It also said measures to improve transparency in public tenders, simplify participation for contractors and newer businesses and expand technology-led governance would make the state a more predictable place to invest.

CREDAI Tamil Nadu also welcomed higher public spending on education, school facilities, digital libraries, skills training, health, women’s safety and anti-drug measures, saying these investments would support stronger human capital and better communities. The group said such spending would complement infrastructure-led growth by improving the quality of urban life and creating a broader base for economic development.

At the same time, the association said more could be done to support housing demand, especially in the affordable segment. It called for targeted incentives for buyers and developers, a rationalisation of stamp duty and registration fees, support for green buildings, stronger urban redevelopment policy and continued investment in city infrastructure. CREDAI Tamil Nadu said it remained ready to work with the government, arguing that the real estate sector is one of the state’s largest employers and a major contributor to the economy.
