The southern state inaugurates 19 MSME parks and plans to build a park in every parliamentary constituency, aiming to boost local manufacturing and employment despite challenges in operationalising units.
Andhra Pradesh has opened 19 micro, small and medium enterprise parks and says 2,876 units are already operating in them, as the state pushes ahead with a plan to build one park in each of its 175 assembly constituencies. MSME Minister Kondapalli Srinivas said 138 parks are under construction, while the rest are still in the land acquisition or planning stage, underscoring how quickly the industrial push has expanded across the state.
The numbers suggest momentum, but not yet full conversion into commercial activity. Reporting by The Times of India and KNN India earlier this month said parks had been inaugurated or laid the foundation stone in 138 constituencies, yet only 29 units had begun production, highlighting the gap between building industrial space and getting businesses into operation. Deccan Chronicle had reported in April that 19 parks were working and 82 more were being built, showing that the programme has advanced steadily over the past several months.
Srinivas said the government is also trying to ease bank loan problems for small businesses through a dedicated portal and improve energy efficiency in the parks. He added that Andhra Pradesh has signed an agreement with Meta for online promotion of MSME products and is working to connect firms with wider markets through platforms such as Flipkart and Amazon. According to the minister, the state is also supporting food processing and manufacturing units with help from the National Research Development Corporation.
The minister made the comments during a visit to the AP Chamber Expo-2026 in Visakhapatnam with Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha. He also said industrial projects in Andhra Pradesh have drawn investments of Rs 24 lakh crore over the two years of the coalition government, a figure that reflects the administration’s broader effort to position MSMEs as a key source of jobs and local manufacturing growth. Earlier this year, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated one park in Prakasam district and virtually launched 49 more across 17 districts, according to The Week, as the park network continued to spread.
