Acme Solar Holdings Ltd unveils an expanded capital expenditure plan of up to ₹35,000 crore to build a 7 gigawatt renewable energy portfolio by 2027, signalling a rapid acceleration in India’s clean energy sector.
ACME Solar Holdings Ltd has outlined a far larger expansion than the one first described in Energy Quotient, with Indian business outlets reporting that the company now plans capital expenditure of as much as ₹32,000-35,000 crore by 2027 to build out a 7 gigawatt renewable portfolio. The latest figures indicate a more ambitious timetable than the earlier estimate of up to ₹20,000 crore, underscoring how quickly the company’s growth plans are moving in India’s fast-expanding clean power market.
According to Mint, the investment will be aimed mainly at round-the-clock renewable power projects, with about 75% to 80% of funding expected to come from debt and the rest from equity and internal accruals. The company is said to want to lift operational capacity from 2.5GW to 5GW by 2026 and then to 7GW by 2027, with much of the spend directed to utility-scale solar assets in high-irradiation states with stronger grid links.
Business Standard reported that ACME Solar is concentrating on hybrid and firm and dispatchable renewable energy projects, which combine solar, wind and storage to provide a steadier power supply. The company is also looking at wind projects and battery energy storage systems, while Economic Times said plans to enter nuclear power are still at a very early stage. Separately, Business Standard reported that ACME Solar has secured ₹15,000 crore in debt funding for greenfield projects, and EQ Mag Pro reported an additional ₹2,300 crore in long-term financing from NaBFID, suggesting the company has already begun lining up capital for the expansion.
The broader push fits India’s drive to add more non-fossil fuel capacity and improve grid reliability as renewable penetration rises. ACME Solar’s plans could also support manufacturing, construction and maintenance jobs, while helping the company build a more diversified asset base across solar, wind, hybrid generation and storage.
