India’s hosting of the 10th BRICS Industry Ministers’ Meeting in Jaipur signals a shift towards practical, structured collaboration. New initiatives like the BRICS Incubator Network aim to foster startup ecosystems and strengthen industrial resilience amidst regional and global shifts.
India has wrapped up the 10th BRICS Industry Ministers’ Meeting in Jaipur, where member countries adopted a joint declaration aimed at deepening industrial cooperation, speeding up innovation and supporting more sustainable growth. The meeting, held under India’s BRICS chairship for 2026, brought together industry ministers and senior officials from the bloc’s member states. According to the Indian government’s account of the talks, the theme was “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal told delegates that BRICS economies should use their different strengths to develop industries that are more resilient and better prepared for the future. The meeting also underlined the role of the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution, known as PartNIR, as a platform for practical cooperation rather than just discussion. Officials said members moved beyond broad commitments and agreed on more structured steps for collaboration, including a framework under the SME Working Group to support micro, small and medium-sized enterprise ecosystems and a set of terms for cooperation on the photovoltaic industry.
India also put forward ideas designed to link innovation more directly with industrial policy. Among them were a BRICS Incubator Network and a BRICS Startup Innovation Fund, both intended to encourage startup ties across member countries. The broader emphasis on entrepreneurship echoes India’s earlier push at the 7th BRICS Industry Ministers’ Meeting in 2023, when Goyal announced plans for a BRICS Startup Forum to help startups, investors and incubators share best practice.
The Jaipur meetings were part of a wider Indian effort to put trade and industrial resilience at the centre of BRICS engagement. India hosted the 16th BRICS Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Jaipur on August 7, where discussions focused on the multilateral trading system, MSME participation in global trade, resilient supply chains and cross-border digitally delivered services. Earlier BRICS and G20 gatherings in Jaipur had also highlighted digitalisation, supply chain security and better access to trade information for smaller firms, reinforcing India’s push for a more practical, business-focused agenda.
