Abyro Capital launches Beacon to boost India’s emerging spacetech startup ecosystem

Abyro Capital partners with T-Hub to fund and accelerate early-stage Indian spacetechnology startups, amid rapid sector growth forecasted for the next decade.

Abyro Capital has launched Beacon, a dedicated programme for early-stage spacetech startups, in partnership with T-Hub, as investors and policymakers look to a sector that Indian reports say could expand sharply over the next decade.

The Hyderabad-based venture capital firm said the cohort is designed to identify, fund and help scale promising companies working in space technology. Five startups operating at technology readiness levels 2 to 4 will each receive $500,000 in committed investment, along with an eight-week acceleration programme focused on mentorship, technical validation, customer introductions, product demonstrations and fundraising support.

According to The Economic Times and other Indian business publications, the launch comes against a backdrop of expectations that India’s space economy could rise from $8.4 billion in 2022 to $44 billion by 2033. Those forecasts point to growing demand in satellite communications, Earth observation and navigation services, alongside a larger role for private companies and nearly 200 startups now active across the sector.

Abyro founder and managing partner Vamsi Kora said the initiative is intended to back entrepreneurs and help build globally competitive spacetech companies from India. T-Hub will provide access to its startup network, investor connections and industry partnerships, while Beacon’s mentor council will draw on space scientists, founders and operators to offer technical guidance, commercial insight and strategic introductions.
