Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi concluded a high-profile two-day outreach in Delhi-NCR, securing proposals worth ₹66,392 crore aimed at boosting manufacturing and creating over 54,000 jobs, with a strategic focus on electronics and allied industries.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi wrapped up a two-day industrial outreach in the Delhi-NCR region on Friday, announcing investment proposals worth ₹66,392 crore that the state said could create 54,135 jobs. The trip came soon after Odisha Food Pro 2026 and combined private meetings with business leaders, sector roundtables and a visit to Haier’s manufacturing operation in Noida, part of a push to position the state as a stronger base for manufacturing and allied industries.
According to the state’s account, the proposals included 38 memorandums of understanding worth ₹64,703 crore and are expected to support 46,071 jobs, while another ₹1,689 crore came through investment intention forms with the potential to generate 8,064 more positions. The government said it held 46 high-level meetings and 208 industry interactions during the visit, with discussion focused on manufacturing, textiles, apparel, engineering goods and aluminium downstream and ancillary units.
Majhi said Odisha wanted to offer more than capital attraction and was aiming to build a durable industrial ecosystem with employment, local supply chains and long-term value creation. Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain said the reception from companies in Delhi-NCR reflected growing confidence in Odisha’s business environment and added that the government’s priority was to support investors and deepen sector-specific value chains.
The Haier visit underlined that broader pitch. Haier Appliances India has been expanding its Greater Noida base with a ₹1,000 crore investment that includes new air-conditioner production, injection moulding and PCB facilities, according to company statements and business reports. The company says the project should add 3,500 jobs and lift annual AC output to 4 million units by 2027, with plans to begin exports once the expansion is complete. Odisha’s leadership is now trying to channel that kind of investment momentum towards the state as it courts more electronics, consumer durables and manufacturing projects under the broader eastern India development push.
