Rain Industries jumps after robust quarterly profits and announces interim dividend despite sharp share decline

Rain Industries shares experienced significant volatility on Friday as the Hyderabad-based petrochemical firm reported a substantial rise in quarterly profit and declared an interim dividend, despite closing the day down 8.27% after hitting a 52-week high earlier.

Rain Industries shares swung sharply on Friday after the Hyderabad-based petrochemical group reported a jump in quarterly profit and paired the results with an interim dividend. The stock briefly touched a 52-week high before reversing course and closing down 8.27% at Rs 221.9 on the BSE, giving the company a market value of Rs 7,463.51 crore, according to the market update cited by Goodreturns.

The company said its board approved an interim dividend of Rs 1 a share, equal to 50% on the face value of Rs 2, for the financial year ending December 31, 2026. Rain Industries has fixed August 14 as the record date, meaning shareholders must own the stock before that date to qualify for the payout. The company filing indicated the dividend is likely to be paid on August 28.

The dividend announcement came alongside a sharp improvement in earnings. Goodreturns reported that net profit in the June quarter rose to Rs 341 crore from Rs 83 crore a year earlier. Rain Industries had already shown signs of recovery in the prior quarter: Business Standard reported that it returned to profit in the December 2025 quarter with a consolidated net gain of Rs 13.51 crore, compared with a loss of Rs 161.41 crore a year earlier, while full-year sales rose 10.22% to Rs 16,945.83 crore.

Investor interest in the payout also reflects the company’s broader distribution record. ETMoney’s corporate actions data shows Rain Industries has declared 21 dividends since July 2007, with the most recent payment in August 2025 and the next one expected in August 2026. Even after Friday’s pullback, the shares have risen 64% in the past three months and about 51% so far in 2026, according to the figures reported by Goodreturns.
