Indian fintech firm WeRize has named Harsh Mittal as chief product and technology officer, aiming to accelerate its AI-powered financial services and prepare for a possible public listing within the next few years.
WeRize has named Harsh Mittal as its chief product and technology officer as the Indian fintech firm steps up preparations for a possible public listing in the next two to three years. The Bengaluru-based company said Mittal will oversee product and technology across a business that serves small-city customers through a branchless, AI-driven distribution model.
The appointment comes as WeRize says it is scaling from a position of sustained profitability. The company has said it is running at an annualised gross revenue rate of about $70 million, with net revenue of $43 million, EBITDA of $18 million and pre-tax profit of more than $9 million. Moneycontrol previously reported slightly lower figures, including annualised gross revenue of $65 million and net revenue of $32 million, while also saying the firm had posted three straight years of profitability and a return on equity above 20%.
Mittal brings more than 20 years of experience spanning fintech, commerce and telecom. He was most recently chief product and technology officer at SpiceMoney, where he led product, technology, data and digital transformation. Before that, he was founding CTO at Yubi, and earlier worked in senior roles at Flipkart, Microsoft in the US and Meta in the UK.
In a statement carried by HR Today, Mittal said WeRize had already built an AI layer trained on more than 20 billion data points from over 4 million households. He said his focus would be on strengthening the company’s Credit Guru, Insurance Guru and Investments Guru products, while tightening the link between its models, freelancers and customers so recommendations improve as the platform scales. WeRize co-founder and chief executive Vishal Chopra said the company was building out leadership in finance, AI, product and technology to support its IPO ambitions.
