Joseph Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, formed the government with allies. The budget sets total expenditure at ₹4,72,585 crore, up 7.6% from 2025-26, according to the figures released with the presentation. It comes against the backdrop of an interim budget tabled earlier this year by the previous administration, which had already signalled a tight fiscal position.
