Boeing India has announced the winners of its fifth BUILD programme, supporting seven teams with grants, mentorship, and incubation to foster innovation in aerospace and technology sectors in India.
Boeing India has named seven start-ups and university teams as winners of the fifth edition of its Boeing University Innovation Leadership Development programme, or BUILD, according to the company. Stacie Sire, vice-president and managing director of the Boeing India Engineering & Technology Centre, said the initiative is meant to encourage innovation in aerospace, technology, sustainability and advanced engineering. Each winning team will receive an INR 10 lakh grant, as well as mentoring and incubation support to help turn early ideas into market-ready products.
Boeing says BUILD is designed to connect graduates and early-stage entrepreneurs with industry expertise, investors and incubators. Since it began in 2019, the programme has drawn more than 7,000 applications and backed 35 start-ups, reflecting the company’s effort to build a deeper pipeline of innovation around India’s aerospace and wider technology sectors.
The programme also fits into Boeing’s broader push in India to link education, manufacturing and workforce development. In a separate announcement, the company said it has been working with Indian partners on skilling initiatives, including a manufacturing training programme with Wilton Weavers that has already seen its first cohort of 15 women with disabilities graduate and move into aviation manufacturing roles.
Boeing has also used BUILD to reinforce its university outreach in India. The company’s earlier edition of the programme supported seven teams across areas including aerospace, defence, technology, social impact and sustainability, while its annual aeromodelling competition has drawn students from hundreds of institutions. Together, these efforts show how Boeing is trying to widen participation in aviation and related engineering fields while tapping into India’s growing start-up ecosystem.
