India aims to become a global air cargo hub at the 7th ACFI World Conclave 2026

India’s air cargo sector gears up for strategic discussions at the 7th ACFI World Conclave 2026 in New Delhi, focusing on digital innovation, resilient infrastructure, and global trade expansion.

India’s air cargo sector is set to take centre stage in New Delhi this week as the 7th ACFI World Conclave 2026 opens on 12-13 August, with organisers framing the event as a discussion on the next stage of growth for a market being reshaped by shifting global supply chains. Sanjiv Edward, president of the Air Cargo Forum India, said the gathering will examine how India can deepen its role in global trade while building more resilient logistics networks.

The conclave’s programme is expected to put digital transformation, multimodal connectivity and infrastructure development at the heart of the debate. According to the event website, sessions will also look at India’s ambition to emerge as a global air cargo hub through PMGS, the NLP and transshipment corridors, alongside the use of AI in cargo operations, digital air waybills, smart cargo security, drone logistics and export opportunities for MSMEs.

More than 700 delegates are expected to attend, including policymakers, logistics executives, forwarders, customs authorities, technology providers and representatives of airlines and airports. The scale of the turnout underlines the industry’s effort to position air freight as a bigger part of India’s trade architecture as cargo flows expand.

The timing is notable. CargoTalk reported that India’s cargo volumes rose 6.2% in FY26 to 39.63 lakh tonnes, with global cargo accounting for nearly 64% of total movement. The conclave, which follows a curtain-raiser in July at the Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi, is being held under the theme “Logistics Shakti”, a phrase intended to capture the sector’s push for greater capability and resilience.
