Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that recent trade pacts are creating new career opportunities for young Indians, amid India’s growing global economic influence and expanding start-up scene, following the BRICS summit.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that India’s trade agreements with other countries are creating fresh career openings for young people, as he addressed a virtual Rozgar Mela and handed out more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly selected recruits.
Speaking at the event, Modi said the agreements were helping Indian entrepreneurs reach new markets and build new partnerships, while also widening prospects for the country’s youth. He said India’s skills and talent had earned global trust, with the world looking to its innovators, business founders and younger workforce.
The remarks came shortly after the BRICS summit, where Modi said India wants co-operation to extend beyond governments and include entrepreneurs, farmers, women and young people. He also pointed to the country’s expanding start-up scene, saying India is now the world’s third-largest start-up ecosystem and that nearly half of recognised start-ups are now based in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, according to his comments.
The government said 45 Rozgar Melas were held across the country and that the latest round of appointments covered posts in departments including revenue, railways, home affairs, health, financial services and defence. With this 20th edition of the jobs fair, the government says 12.75 lakh young people have received appointment letters so far.
