SC Jeil Bank introduces a limited-time, fixed end date special rate of 3.4% for first-time customers opening its Hi account, offering a longer advantage for early sign-ups amid competitive deposit market.
SC Jeil Bank is offering a limited-time boost to customers opening its Hi account, with first-time customers able to earn a special rate of 3.4 percentage points until 31 December. The bank said the promotion applies regardless of balance size and lifts the maximum yield on the instant-access deposit account to 4.0% before tax when combined with the base rate and other bonuses. According to the bank, the offer is aimed at customers with no recent relationship with the lender, including both new clients and some existing customers who have not held certain won or foreign-currency accounts for the past year.
The timing of the promotion is significant because the special-rate end date is fixed at 31 January 2027, no matter when a customer signs up. That means people who open the account earlier will receive the enhanced rate for longer. SC Jeil Bank said the account’s base rate is 0.1%, while standard bonus interest for first-time customers normally depends on balance bands. During the event, however, the 3.4 percentage-point special rate is applied uniformly across balances.
Additional rate increases are still available on top of the promotion. The bank said customers opening the account through partner channels can receive an extra 0.1 percentage point, while those who agree to marketing communications can get another 0.2 point. Priority Banking customers or above are also eligible for an additional 0.2 point. SC Jeil Bank said the Hi account also waives a range of fees, including internet and mobile transfer charges and ATM cash withdrawal fees.
The latest offer follows earlier iterations of the Hi account promotion, which industry reports said previously featured lower special-rate caps. In February, the bank had announced a top rate of 3.4%, and in September last year it ran an event that lifted the maximum to 4.0% under a different structure. The repeated promotions suggest SC Jeil Bank is using the savings product to attract and retain retail deposits in a competitive market for cash-management accounts.
