Razorpay expands CardSync to enable seamless Google Pay card sharing for faster online checkout

Razorpay introduces an extended CardSync feature allowing eligible Google Pay cards to appear at checkout, aiming to reduce friction and boost transaction speed amid a shifting digital payments landscape.

Razorpay is widening its CardSync product to let eligible cards saved on Google Pay appear at participating checkout pages, a move the company says is designed to cut the repeated form-filling that often slows down online purchases. The feature, announced at GFF 2026, lets customers select a saved card with explicit consent and complete payment without re-entering card details. Razorpay also said biometric approval through Google Pay, using fingerprint or face recognition, will soon replace one-time passwords for supported transactions.

The company is building on an earlier CardSync launch with CRED and Visa in August 2025, when it introduced a system for moving saved card tokens across merchants using Razorpay Checkout. In that launch, Razorpay said the aim was to address common failure points such as mistyped card numbers and customers not having a physical card to hand. The new Google Pay tie-up extends that model beyond a single consumer app, pushing the idea that a tokenised card can travel across payment experiences rather than remain trapped in one platform.

Razorpay says the practical benefit is most obvious where buyers are under pressure to finish quickly, including ecommerce, travel, ticketing, insurance and other high-value purchases. The company argues that each extra step in checkout gives shoppers another chance to abandon the cart. It says businesses using Razorpay Checkout will not need a separate integration to benefit, because the interoperability layer sits behind the scenes.

The broader shift reflects a changing payments market. In April 2026, Razorpay said it had become the first Indian payment aggregator to enable card payments through Google Pay for Indian businesses worldwide. It has also pointed to industry forecasts suggesting that digital wallets will take a larger share of global ecommerce transaction value by 2030 as shoppers increasingly favour faster, app-based checkout. Razorpay’s documentation says CardSync is already automatically enabled for Standard Checkout integrations, with support for SDK and server-to-server set-ups coming later.
