Indian stock indices declined slightly on 14 August 2026 as green energy stocks showed divergent trends. While some renewable names surged, others faced declines, reflecting cautious investor sentiment in the sector amidst a subdued trading session.
Indian shares finished slightly lower on 14 August 2026, and green energy names moved in opposite directions as investors picked through a subdued session. The S&P BSE Sensex slipped 0.09% to 78,009.25, while the Nifty 50 fell 0.17% to 24,354.85, leaving the renewable and clean-tech space with a mixed pattern of gains and losses.
Kabra Extrusion was the strongest performer among the stocks tracked, rising more than 7% as interest returned to a company best known for plastic extrusion machinery used across pipes, profiles, sheets and films. Praj Industries also advanced, with the industrial biotechnology and engineering group attracting buying support on the back of its work in biofuels, water and other sustainable technologies. Adani Green Energy, which develops and operates renewable power projects, also gained, while Insolation Energy and Tata Power closed higher as well.
At the other end of the table, Olectra Greentech posted the sharpest fall. The company, which makes electric buses and other electric vehicles, lost ground alongside Websol Energy, Exide Industries and Borosil Renewables. The weakness suggested that investor appetite remained selective rather than broad-based, even within a sector tied to India’s energy transition.
Broader energy heavyweights were also soft. Reliance Industries and Larsen & Toubro both edged lower, while Indian Oil Corporation, GAIL and NTPC Green Energy declined. Indian Energy Exchange, Juniper Green Energy and Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy also ended weaker, although Amara Raja Energy & Mobility was little changed. The day’s trading pointed to a market in which clean-energy plays continued to draw attention, but only on a stock-by-stock basis.
