Sberbank has launched a new anti-fraud tool within its SberBank Online app, allowing customers to involve trusted contacts to review suspicious transactions, strengthening its efforts against financial scams.
Sberbank has introduced a new anti-fraud tool in its SberBank Online app that lets customers name a trusted contact to help review suspicious transactions. If the bank’s systems flag a transfer or other operation as high-risk, it can temporarily pause the payment and involve the chosen person before deciding whether to proceed.
According to IXBT News, a bank employee then contacts the nominated assistant and asks them to speak with the customer by phone. The aim is to establish why the payment is being made and whether the person is acting under pressure from fraudsters. The information gathered is then used in the bank’s decision on whether to release or block the transaction.
Sberbank says the service is available free of charge through the mobile app’s “Close by” section, where users can select “Trusted Contact” and enter the details of the person they want to involve. The bank’s security page says this kind of intervention is designed for moments when a client may have stopped responding to warnings and could already be under a scammer’s influence.
The launch adds to a broader set of fraud-prevention tools inside SberBank Online. Sberbank’s own publications have also described an “Operation Check” feature for transactions handled through a trusted assistant, as well as a separate website-check service that scans links sent by text message, email or messengers and warns users if a site appears malicious or fraudulent.
