Ola Electric Mobility’s shares declined slightly after reporting an improved first-quarter loss and raising ₹780 crore through a qualified institutional placement, signalling cautious optimism as broader Indian markets dipped and the EV maker aims for growth recovery.
Ola Electric Mobility shares slipped on Friday after the electric two-wheeler maker reported a narrower first-quarter loss and disclosed a fresh capital raise, even as broader Indian markets traded lower. The stock fell 0.89% to ₹41.07, while the Nifty 50 declined 0.27% as risk appetite weakened across the market.
For the quarter ended June 30, 2025, Ola Electric reported revenue from operations of ₹455 crore, down from ₹828 crore a year earlier, according to the company’s results. The figure was, however, sharply higher than the ₹265 crore it posted in the previous quarter, pointing to a recovery from the prior period. Net loss narrowed to ₹336 crore from ₹428 crore in the same quarter last year, marking an improvement of 21.5%.
The latest numbers also sit against a more cautious backdrop than the company’s earlier guidance. Business Standard reported in July that Ola Electric had delivered 68,192 vehicles in the previous quarter and was targeting 325,000 to 375,000 vehicles in the full year, with management expecting margins to improve as production-linked incentive benefits start to flow through. Moneycontrol has also reported that the company has been working to sharpen service, product quality, gross margins and operating costs.
Ola Electric also said it raised ₹780 crore through a qualified institutional placement, issuing 21.76 crore shares at ₹35.86 apiece. NDTV Profit reported that the issue was oversubscribed by 56%, with participation from domestic and overseas institutional investors. The company said the proceeds will be used for capital spending, debt reduction, working capital and other commitments, and the fresh funds should give it more room to support operations as it tries to turn around performance.
