Odisha has attracted a proposed Rs 66,392 crore in investment during a two-day Delhi-NCR outreach, with plans to generate over 54,000 jobs, signalling a strong shift towards manufacturing and industrial expansion under Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
Odisha has drawn Rs 66,392 crore in proposed investment after a two-day outreach in Delhi-NCR, with the state government saying the projects could create about 54,135 jobs. The announcement comes as Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi steps up efforts to sell Odisha as a manufacturing and industrial base. According to Maritime Gateway, 38 memoranda of understanding were signed during the visit, covering sectors such as manufacturing, textiles, engineering and aluminium.
Majhi also held 46 high-level meetings with representatives of 208 industries, following the Odisha Food Pro 2026 event in Delhi. The government said the discussions were meant to convert broad interest into specific projects and deepen investor engagement across multiple sectors.
During the trip, Majhi visited a manufacturing plant in Noida and met company representatives, telling them that Odisha’s industrial, MSME and skill development teams were ready to support a new white goods manufacturing ecosystem with Haier as an anchor investor. That pitch fits a wider pattern. In January, Business Standard reported that Odisha had attracted about Rs 1 trillion in investment interest at a separate Kolkata meet, while The New Indian Express said that event involved more than 500 industry leaders and institutional stakeholders.
The latest Delhi figures add to a series of industrial approvals and investment announcements from the state. Economic Times reported that Odisha recently cleared 20 mega projects worth Rs 76,612 crore, projected to generate more than 50,000 jobs, while Business Standard said a separate clearance round covered 23 projects worth Rs 4,510.65 crore and 10,122 jobs. Taken together, the numbers suggest the government is trying to move from headline commitments to a broader pipeline of factory-led growth and employment.
