Eternal Ltd, formerly Zomato, reported a dramatic surge in revenue and profit in the first quarter of fiscal 2027, as its move into quick commerce and broader business lines fueled robust growth amid evolving market dynamics.
Eternal Ltd emerged as one of the clearest beneficiaries of the latest earnings season, posting a sharp jump in revenue and profit for the first quarter of fiscal 2027 as its quick-commerce and food delivery businesses continued to scale. According to ICICI Direct, consolidated total income rose 173.71% year on year to ₹20,586 crore, while revenue from operations climbed 181.99% to ₹20,211 crore. Net profit came in at ₹92 crore, up 268% from the same period a year earlier, although it was lower than the previous quarter because of higher tax costs.
The result underscores how quickly Eternal, formerly known as Zomato, has moved beyond its original food delivery base. LiveMint reported that the growth was driven largely by the shift to a first-party model in quick commerce, which captures the full value of goods sold rather than just marketplace commissions. Business Standard said Blinkit was a major engine of expansion, while the company’s food delivery, going-out and Hyperpure businesses also contributed to the stronger top line.
The scale of the revenue increase also points to a changing earnings profile for the company. Business Standard said operating profit rose to ₹594 crore, a year-on-year increase of more than 416%, even as expenses climbed alongside the larger business. The Financial Express reported that EBITDA topped ₹555 crore and noted that the sequential dip in profit reflected a heavier tax burden rather than a deterioration in operating momentum.
For investors, the numbers suggest that Eternal’s growth story is now being driven by execution as much as by scale. The company’s move into quick commerce has broadened its business mix and lifted reported revenue, but the quarterly comparison also shows how sensitive profit remains to tax and cost pressures. The latest figures therefore offer a picture of strong operating momentum tempered by the realities of a fast-expanding, still-maturing business.
