Despite a 14.3% decline in 2026 and several undervaluation metrics, Amrize’s shares remain under pressure amid cautious analyst sentiment and margin concerns, prompting investors to weigh potential opportunities against operational risks.
Amrize’s shares have been under pressure this year, but valuation checks still suggest the stock may be cheaper than it looks. A recent analysis of the company’s fundamentals found that it screens as undervalued in 5 of 6 measures, even after a 14.3% decline so far in 2026. That leaves investors weighing whether the sell-off has created an opening or whether the lower price simply reflects genuine operating risks.
On earnings, the case is mixed. Amrize trades on a trailing price-to-earnings ratio of 21.2, above the broader basic materials industry average of 14.6, but below the much higher average for its direct peers. The same analysis puts its fair P/E at 32.5, implying the market is still assigning a discount to the company’s earnings power, margins, scale and risk profile. Yahoo Finance’s key statistics page puts the company’s market value at about $29.67 billion and its enterprise value at $35.73 billion.
That optimism has been tempered by a more cautious note from Wall Street. Truist recently downgraded Amrize from “Buy” to “Hold” and cut its price target to $48 from $65, citing margin pressure in commercial roofing, which accounts for roughly 28% of sales, as well as limited near-term upside in cement pricing. The brokerage also pointed to higher petrochemical costs affecting roofing inputs and warned that new competition could weigh on the business over time.
Amrize’s recent trading history underlines the tension between valuation and execution. The stock has delivered just 0.4% over the past year, according to the valuation summary, suggesting that investors have not yet been rewarded for holding through the weakness. For now, the shares look inexpensive on several measures, but the market appears to be waiting for proof that cash generation and margins can hold up before giving the stock a richer rating.
