Greek pension payments for 2026 to be staggered with clearer schedule among beneficiaries

Greece’s e-EFKA has announced a staggered timetable for pension disbursements in September 2026, providing beneficiaries with clearer payment schedules ahead of the August deadline.

Greece’s e-EFKA has set the September 2026 pension timetable, with payments split between non-salaried and salaried beneficiaries and due to be completed before the end of August, according to local reports on the announcement. Former self-employed pensioners are due first, followed two days later by former employee-based funds and public-sector recipients. Reuters-style reporting from Greek outlets said the sequence mirrors the agency’s long-running practice of staggering disbursements by insurance category.

For the first group, main pensions for former OAEE, OGA and ETAA members are scheduled for Wednesday, August 26, alongside main pensions awarded after e-EFKA was created under Law 4387/2016 and all private-sector supplementary pensions. To Vima and other Greek publications reported that this means many pensioners will see the money in their accounts from the afternoon of Tuesday, August 25, as banks usually credit funds before the official date.

The second payment round is set for Friday, August 28. That date covers main pensions for beneficiaries of the former IKA-ETAM, banks, OTE, DEI, TSAEPGSO, TSPE-ISAP, NAT, ETAT and ETAP-MME funds, as well as all main and supplementary pensions for the public sector, according to Dimokratia and CNN Greece. Those reports said the same banking pattern should apply, with some transfers appearing from Thursday, August 27.

The split schedule means retirees are not all paid on the same day, but it also gives households clearer visibility over when funds will land. As Greek outlets noted, the official dates are August 26 and August 28, yet actual availability depends on each bank’s processing time, which is why many pensioners typically check balances the evening before the announced payment day.
