Utkarsh Small Finance Bank offers highest 3-year fixed deposit returns among small finance lenders

Among small finance banks, Utkarsh Small Finance Bank currently provides the most attractive 3-year fixed deposit rates, with a marginal advantage over AU and Ujjivan, especially for senior citizens, highlighting the importance of comparing final maturity values for large investments.

For investors weighing fixed deposits of ₹6 lakh to ₹18 lakh over 3 years, small finance banks are currently offering noticeably different returns, with the gap widening once senior-citizen benefits are included. Among the three lenders compared here, Utkarsh Small Finance Bank appears to offer the highest 3-year rates, followed by AU Small Finance Bank and then Ujjivan Small Finance Bank, according to the rate cards and calculations published by the banks and reported by Zee Business.

The comparison matters because fixed deposits remain a favoured option for savers who want certainty, but the final payout depends on more than the headline interest rate. Tenure, compounding frequency, premature withdrawal rules, tax treatment and deposit insurance all affect the eventual value, and the difference between banks can become meaningful on larger sums. AU Small Finance Bank’s rates effective from June 10, 2026, show up to 7.40% for regular customers and 7.90% for senior citizens on a 3-year FD, while Ujjivan Small Finance Bank’s rates effective from June 22, 2026, go up to 7.25% for regular customers and 7.75% for senior citizens. Utkarsh Small Finance Bank, as cited in the Zee Business calculations, offers 7.50% for regular customers and 8% for senior citizens on the same tenor.

On a ₹6 lakh deposit, the 3-year maturity value would be ₹7,55,369 for a senior citizen at Ujjivan, ₹7,58,710 at AU and ₹7,60,945 at Utkarsh. For non-senior customers, the figures rise to ₹7,44,328 at Ujjivan, ₹7,47,625 at AU and ₹7,49,830 at Utkarsh. The same ranking holds at higher amounts: on ₹12 lakh, the maturity values come to ₹15,10,737, ₹15,17,420 and ₹15,21,890 for senior citizens, and ₹14,88,656, ₹14,95,249 and ₹14,99,660 for others, respectively.

At ₹18 lakh, the maturity amount is ₹22,66,106 at Ujjivan for senior citizens, compared with ₹22,76,130 at AU and ₹22,82,835 at Utkarsh. For regular depositors, the figures are ₹22,32,985, ₹22,42,874 and ₹22,49,489. In practical terms, that means Utkarsh gives the highest return in this comparison, although the margin is modest, so investors would still do well to check whether a bank’s deposit is callable or non-callable, whether the rate applies only to a particular slab and whether the amount stays within the deposit insurance limit before locking money away.
