J&K Bank has entered into a corporate agency agreement with HDFC Life, expanding its customer offerings and reinforcing its bancassurance model as Indian banks seek diversified and technology-enabled insurance solutions.
J&K Bank has signed a corporate agency agreement with HDFC Life, widening the insurer choices available to its customers and deepening its bancassurance model. The tie-up gives the bank’s clients access to HDFC Life products spanning protection, savings, investment and retirement planning, according to the companies.
The bank said the move is intended to support customer choice rather than push a single product set, with Amitava Chatterjee, its managing director and chief executive, saying the addition of another major insurer expands the range of credible and competitive options on offer. He said the bank wants customers to be able to select cover that fits their needs, life stage and financial goals.
Vibha Padalkar, managing director and chief executive of HDFC Life, said the partnership would help extend the company’s reach through J&K Bank’s distribution network. She described life insurance as a key part of long-term financial resilience and said the arrangement would combine a broad product range with technology-enabled servicing.
The deal also fits a wider trend in Indian banking, where lenders are increasingly building multi-insurer platforms to lift fee income and offer more tailored services through branches. Separate reports on Monday said J&K Bank has also been broadening its bancassurance arrangements with other insurers, including SBI Life, as it seeks to improve non-interest income and strengthen its distribution-led business.
