HSBC Life Singapore introduces Term Protect Secure, a flexible term plan offering coverage up to age 100 with options to adapt as life changes, reflecting a trend towards longer, more adaptable insurance solutions for modern households.
For many people, the case for insurance becomes clearer at the same moment life becomes more complicated: a first home, a new child, a change in career, or a sudden health scare. That is the backdrop for HSBC Life’s latest term plan, Term Protect Secure, which is pitched as a way to cover the years when financial obligations are highest while leaving room to adapt as circumstances change.
The plan is designed to provide term life coverage up to age 100, with the insurer saying policyholders can increase protection at key life events without fresh medical underwriting, subject to eligibility and limits. HSBC Life also says the policy can be converted to another eligible plan before age 70 without a further health assessment, a feature that may appeal to customers who want flexibility if their needs evolve over time.
According to HSBC Life Singapore, the launch of Term Protect Secure is part of a wider push to offer insurance products that fit longer lifespans and changing household needs. The company says the plan is intended to sit alongside wealth planning, not just replace income if the worst happens, which reflects a broader trend among insurers trying to combine straightforward protection with life-stage options.
The policy also includes critical illness cover and optional riders, giving buyers the chance to broaden protection beyond death and total permanent disability. HSBC Life says premiums can be paid monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or yearly, and the minimum sum assured is SGD100,000, making the plan accessible to a range of households rather than only higher-income customers.
Its features place it in a competitive segment where flexibility is increasingly part of the sales pitch. HSBC Life’s own materials for another plan, Term Protect Advantage, show the insurer has already been leaning into life-event-based coverage changes, convertibility and unemployment support; by contrast, Term Protect Secure extends that logic further by stretching cover to age 100 and adding the option to upgrade protection at later milestones without new health checks.
