The Eternal SBI Card suits Zomato, Blinkit and District users, while the Swiggy HDFC Bank Credit Card offers stronger rewards for Swiggy customers and broader online spending.
For shoppers who split their spending between food delivery, quick commerce and online retail, the better card comes down to where the monthly bills add up fastest. According to SBI Card and HDFC Bank, the Eternal SBI Card is built around Zomato, Blinkit and District, while the Swiggy HDFC Bank Credit Card leans more heavily into Swiggy’s own ecosystem and a wider set of online merchants. In practice, that means the two cards are less direct rivals than specialised tools for different habits.
The Eternal SBI Card carries a joining fee of ₹499 plus GST and waives the renewal fee if annual spending crosses ₹2 lakh in the preceding card year, according to SBI Card. It also comes with a complimentary six-month Zomato Gold membership on activation. Its headline benefit is up to 10% instant discount on purchases at Zomato, Blinkit and District, with a combined monthly cap of ₹2,000. SBI Card says the product also offers 5% cashback on selected partner brands, including Apollo, ixigo, Uber and Urban Company, capped at ₹1,000 a month, plus a 1% fuel surcharge waiver on eligible transactions between ₹500 and ₹4,000.
By contrast, the Swiggy HDFC Bank Credit Card has a higher joining fee of ₹1,000 plus GST, but HDFC Bank says that fee is waived if the cardholder spends ₹75,000 within the first 90 days. The annual fee is also waived in later years if spending reaches ₹2 lakh in the previous billing cycle, excluding cash withdrawals, cash on call and balance transfers. The bank says the card gives a three-month Swiggy BLCK membership on activation, with 10% cashback on eligible Swiggy spends, 5% cashback on select online merchants and 1% cashback on other categories. According to HDFC Bank and third-party comparisons, the Swiggy cashback is subject to a minimum transaction of ₹249 and a monthly cap of ₹1,500, while the 5% online cashback is capped at ₹1,500 a month.
The choice becomes clearer once the reward caps are matched against actual spending. Someone who regularly orders food from Zomato, buys groceries or essentials on Blinkit, and uses District or the listed partner services is likely to extract more value from the Eternal SBI Card, especially if the lower entry fee matters. A shopper who spends more often on Swiggy food delivery, Instamart and Dineout, and also buys from eligible online merchants such as Amazon, Flipkart, Ajio, Nykaa, BookMyShow and Uber, is likely to prefer the HDFC card. HDFC Bank also lists extra lifestyle features, including four complimentary golf rounds and 12 golf lessons a year, which may appeal to some users but are unlikely to influence the decision for most everyday spenders.
In simple terms, the Eternal SBI Card looks better for customers who want a cheaper card and spend across a narrower set of partnered platforms, while the Swiggy HDFC Bank Credit Card may deliver stronger value for frequent Swiggy users and broader online shoppers. The best option depends on monthly spend patterns, how quickly cashback caps are reached and whether the cardholder can clear the fee waivers through regular use. For most buyers, the right answer is not which card is stronger on paper, but which one aligns more closely with their actual shopping behaviour.
