Bajaj General Insurance launches ProShield for defence personnel amid shift towards usage-based motor products

Bajaj General Insurance introduces ProShield, a specialised motor policy for defence personnel, as part of its expanding range of innovative, usage-linked insurance solutions in the evolving automotive market.

Bajaj General Insurance has introduced ProShield, a packaged motor policy aimed at defence personnel, as the company expands a motor line-up that also includes newer usage-based and add-on products. In a statement, the insurer said the cover is designed for service members whose work often involves frequent transfers, operational demands and long periods away from home.

The new plan includes vehicle relocation protection, travel emergency protection that can reimburse missed flights and hotel costs after a vehicle accident on the way to the airport, and document loss protection to help pay for replacing key papers such as a driving licence and registration certificate for the insured and spouse. The company said the product was built to offer practical support and financial backup for military families on the move.

Alongside ProShield, Bajaj General Insurance has also rolled out V Pay and V Pay 2.0 as a broader motor insurance solution. The company’s existing V-PAY add-on is marketed as a way to simplify claims through cashless repairs at network garages and includes cover for accessories, mechanical and electrical breakdowns and cyber risk protection. Earlier company material said the V-PAY family was first launched in 2023 as an add-on for private car owners, with an Elite variant offering 22 built-in features.

Bajaj General Insurance, a Bajaj Finserv subsidiary established in 2001, says it serves customers across nearly 1,500 towns and cities and sells products ranging from motor and health to cyber insurance. The latest launch fits a wider pattern in the motor market, where insurers are increasingly offering products tied to actual usage, safety and connected-car risks rather than relying only on conventional accident cover.
