Air India is enhancing its marketing strategy with a range of fare cuts, promotions, and concessions that vary by route and booking channel, requiring passengers to navigate fine print to maximise savings.
Air India is marketing a mix of fare cuts, payment-linked deals and passenger-specific concessions as part of its latest booking push, but the size of the saving depends on the route, channel and payment method. According to the airline’s own offers pages, some of the best-known app and direct-booking promotions are narrower than third-party roundups suggest, with terms that limit them to selected flights and, in some cases, logged-in members only.
The airline says first-time bookings through its mobile app can qualify for a discount under the AIFIRST offer, while direct bookings on its website or app can also get up to 10% off on selected domestic flights. A separate welcome-back promotion is aimed at logged-in members, and Air India has also run larger limited-time sales in the past, including a Black Friday event and an app-only festival sale, both of which offered deeper discounts for short booking windows.
Beyond these channel-based offers, Air India is also promoting fare reductions for students, senior citizens and armed forces personnel. Informalnewz.com said current promotions include discounts of up to Rs 10,000 on select bookings for eligible cardholders using EMI plans, along with promo codes for app users, UPI payments and net banking. The airline’s own booking pages indicate that such offers are subject to seat availability, route restrictions and other conditions, and they cannot always be combined with other promotions.
For business travellers, Air India also has an AIBIZ programme for corporate customers and small and medium-sized enterprises with valid GST registration. The broader message is simple: there are savings available, but travellers need to read the fine print carefully before paying, because the headline discount is often the maximum possible benefit rather than the amount most passengers will actually receive.
