Vardhman Holdings soars on Q1 profit surge driven by market valuation gains

Shares of Vardhman Holdings climbed after the company reported a significant first-quarter profit increase, driven by strong mark-to-market gains and higher investment income, reflecting investor interest in valuation-linked earnings amid rising mutual fund assets in India.

Vardhman Holdings shares drew attention after the investment company reported a sharp rise in first-quarter profit, helped by stronger mark-to-market gains on its portfolio and higher investment income. The stock was trading higher in Mumbai after the results, reflecting renewed investor interest in a business whose earnings are tied more to market valuations than to conventional operating growth.

On a standalone basis, the company’s revenue from operations more than tripled to Rs 10.83 crore in the quarter ended June 30 from Rs 3.47 crore a year earlier, while total income rose to Rs 11.34 crore from Rs 3.86 crore. The main driver was fair value gains on investments, which increased to Rs 10.61 crore from Rs 3.25 crore in the same period last year. Profit before tax climbed to Rs 10.59 crore from Rs 3.54 crore, and net profit jumped to Rs 8.33 crore from Rs 2.66 crore.

Earnings per share rose sharply to Rs 26.07 from Rs 8.36, while total expenses remained low at Rs 0.75 crore, underscoring the company’s asset-light structure. Vardhman Holdings is the investment arm of the Vardhman Group, with income mainly coming from dividends, interest and gains on investments. Its consolidated results were stronger still because they include associate contributions from Vardhman Textiles and Vardhman Spinning & General Mills.

According to the Indian Brand Equity Foundation, India’s mutual fund industry ended FY26 with assets under management of Rs 73.73 lakh crore, while industry data reported by Moneycontrol showed AUM at a record Rs 82.22 lakh crore in June 2026, with individual investors accounting for 61% of assets. That backdrop matters for investment holding companies such as Vardhman Holdings, as stronger retail participation, record systematic investment plan inflows and steady equity ownership have supported the value of listed portfolios even through market volatility.
