The Tata retail company will announce its September-quarter results on 29 October, with investors watching whether Westside and Zudio can sustain their rapid growth.
Harish Bhat has stepped down from the board of Trent, the Tata Group retail company behind Westside and Zudio, as investors wait for the group’s September-quarter numbers. In a resignation letter dated 17 October 2026 and filed with the stock exchanges, Bhat said mounting professional and personal commitments had made it difficult for him to continue in the role. According to Zee Business, Trent shares fell on Monday as the market digested the departure ahead of the results announcement. Trent said in a regulatory filing that its board will meet on 29 October to consider the unaudited standalone and consolidated results for the quarter and half-year ended 30 September 2026.
Bhat thanked Trent’s board and chairman Noel N. Tata for the opportunity to contribute to the company’s governance and strategic direction, and praised Tata’s leadership for helping steer the business through a period of rapid expansion. Reuters-style reporting based on the exchange filing shows that Bhat had served as a non-executive, non-independent director since April 2014. He joined the Tata Administrative Service in 1987 and went on to hold senior roles across the group, including at Tata Global Beverages, Titan Company and Tata Sons. He is also a director at Tata Starbucks and Infiniti Retail.
The exit comes at a sensitive moment for Trent, which has been one of the Tata Group’s fastest-growing consumer businesses as it has expanded its fashion and lifestyle footprint. Zee Business estimates suggest the company’s September-quarter standalone revenue may rise 22.5% from a year earlier to Rs 5,788 crore, while earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation could increase 26.7% to Rs 1,030 crore. The brokerage-style forecast also points to margin improvement, with EBITDA margin seen at 17.8% versus 17.2% a year earlier, and profit after tax expected to climb 18.6% to Rs 535 crore.
Investors will be watching closely for signs that Westside and Zudio continue to deliver the kind of growth that has powered Trent’s market value in recent years. On Monday, the stock traded lower on the National Stock Exchange, with Zee Business reporting a fall of 2.87% to Rs 2,873.70. The shares have moved between Rs 2,183.66 and Rs 3,399.70 over the past 52 weeks, underscoring the volatility that has accompanied the company’s strong run and the market’s high expectations for the upcoming update.
