Sensex opens flat amid sector rotation and cautious trading behaviour

The BSE Sensex begins trading with minimal gains as investors navigate a mixed sector landscape, driven by broader market movements rather than specific company news.

The S&P BSE Sensex opened just above flat in pre-market trade on Tuesday, adding 20.95 points, or 0.03 per cent, as investors watched a mixed sector picture at the start of the session. Metals were slightly weaker, power edged higher and auto stocks slipped, pointing to a cautious tone in early dealing.

Among individual stocks, Ethos, Gland Pharma and Jai Balaji Industries led the gainers list. Ethos rose 4.55 per cent to Rs 2,915.05, Gland Pharma advanced 4.45 per cent to Rs 3,037.85 and Jai Balaji Industries climbed 2.64 per cent to Rs 71.94.

ABP Live reported that none of the three companies had issued a major fresh announcement recently, suggesting the moves may have been driven more by broader market trading than by company-specific news. Moneycontrol’s Sensex trackers similarly show that the index continues to move in line with sector rotation, with traders closely tracking real-time changes in the benchmark and its constituents.
