K.C.P. Sugar posts 158.5% profit surge on strong revenue and investment gains in June quarter

K.C.P. Sugar and Industries Corporation reports a significant increase in quarterly profit driven by higher operating revenue and substantial gains from equity investments, as it navigates seasonal challenges and recent contract expansions.

K.C.P. Sugar and Industries Corporation posted a sharp rise in profit for the quarter to June 30, 2026, as stronger operating revenue and a large uplift in other income lifted results. The company reported standalone net profit of Rs 45.56 crore, up 158.5% from a year earlier, while revenue from operations climbed 23.1% to Rs 68.14 crore, according to its filing with the BSE and the National Stock Exchange of India.

Total income reached Rs 122.91 crore, helped by other income of Rs 54.78 crore. The company said that included a fair value gain of Rs 51.22 crore on equity investments, compared with Rs 22.81 crore in the same period a year earlier. Profit before tax more than doubled to Rs 53.14 crore, and earnings per share rose to Rs 4.02 from Rs 1.55.

On a consolidated basis, revenue from operations increased 31.4% to Rs 78.03 crore, while consolidated net profit rose to Rs 46.25 crore from Rs 19.15 crore a year earlier. The company said sugar remained its biggest standalone revenue source during the quarter, contributing Rs 38.74 crore, followed by the others segment at Rs 22.36 crore, chemicals at Rs 6.56 crore and engineering at Rs 1.86 crore.

Independent auditors B. Purushottam & Co. said their review did not find any material misstatement in the financial statements. They also noted that, in line with the company’s seasonal accounting approach, Rs 9.44 crore of other expenditure and Rs 0.58 crore of depreciation linked to the sugar and co-generation business had been deferred to later quarters. K.C.P. Sugar said the June quarter should not be taken as a guide to full-year performance because sugar is a seasonal business. The board recommended a final dividend of Re 0.10 a share for the year ended March 31, 2026, subject to shareholder approval, and also cleared a Rs 153.40 crore supply contract from wholly owned subsidiary The EIMCO-KCP Limited for engineering parts through the Thuvakkudi unit. The company operates two sugar factories in Andhra Pradesh’s Krishna district with a combined crushing capacity of 11,500 tonnes a day.
