Institutional trades signal cautious optimism in select Indian stocks amid Rs. 149 crore block deals

Large block and bulk deals worth around Rs. 149 crore involving mutual funds, foreign investors, and promoters highlight strategic repositioning in Metropolis Healthcare, Univastu India, Rolex Rings, and RPP Infra Projects, offering a glimpse into institutional sentiment amid market volatility.

Large block and bulk deals worth about Rs. 149 crore drew attention to four listed companies on Aug. 11, with mutual funds, foreign portfolio investors and promoter entities all active in Metropolis Healthcare, Univastu India, Rolex Rings and RPP Infra Projects. Such trades do not always signal a longer-term trend, but they can offer a snapshot of where institutional money is moving and how insiders are repositioning their holdings.

Metropolis Healthcare was the biggest transaction in value terms. According to Trade Brains, promoter-linked entities Duru Shah Family Trust and Metz Advisory LLP sold 21 lakh shares in a block deal at an average price of Rs. 564 apiece, raising about Rs. 118.44 crore and trimming their combined stake by just over 1%. On the other side of the trade, Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund bought 10.49 lakh shares, while ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund and Morgan Stanley Asia Singapore Pte each picked up 5.25 lakh shares. The diagnostics company, based in Mumbai, remains one of India’s better-known pathology and clinical testing names, with a network that extends beyond India.

Univastu India was another stock to see institutional interest, even as the share price hit the 5% upper circuit on Wednesday. Trade Brains reported that Taurus Mutual Fund bought 3.77 lakh shares in a bulk deal at Rs. 130 each, taking the transaction value to roughly Rs. 4.91 crore and representing just under 1% of the company’s paid-up equity. Univastu works in civil construction and engineering across residential, commercial, industrial and government projects, and is headquartered in Maharashtra.

Rolex Rings fell after a fresh bulk purchase by a German investor. Trade Brains said Bayerninvest KVG MBH, acting for ERI Bayerninvest Fonds Aktien Asien, acquired 8.99 lakh shares at an average price of Rs. 170.59, worth about Rs. 15.33 crore. The Rajkot-based company makes bearing rings and automotive components for use in passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, railways, off-road vehicles, renewable energy and industrial equipment.

RPP Infra Projects also saw both buying and selling in the same session. According to Trade Brains, Diva Projects Private Limited bought 8.48 lakh shares at Rs. 58.90 apiece, while promoter Arul Sundaram Nithya and P. Arul Sundaram sold a combined 8.73 lakh shares for about Rs. 5.14 crore. The Chennai-based EPC company, which works on roads, buildings, irrigation, water supply, power infrastructure and industrial projects, ended the day modestly higher.
