Shares of several Indian firms including Godrej Consumer Products, RailTel, and Bharat Electronics push market activity as investors rush to qualify for upcoming dividend payouts before the record date on August 13, 2026.
Shares of Godrej Consumer Products, RailTel Corporation of India, Bharat Electronics, The Ramco Cements and Usha Martin are among a broader list of Indian companies drawing market attention on August 12, the last trading day for investors to buy in time for dividend eligibility before the stock moves to its ex-dividend date on August 13, 2026.
According to NDTV Profit, August 13 is the record date for the payouts, which means shareholders must own the stock by the end of August 12 to qualify. Because India follows a T+1 settlement cycle, purchases made on the record date itself will not count for the dividend, as the transaction will settle only the next trading day.
The list also includes Antony Waste Handling Cell, Century Enka, Dhunseri Investments, Metal Coatings India, Neogen Chemicals, Power Grid Corporation of India, Prestige Estates Projects, Ramco Industries, Sodhani Capital, South Indian Bank, Sumedha Fiscal Services, Tirupati Foam and Visaka Industries. The announced payouts range from 45 paise a share at South Indian Bank to Rs. 11 at Century Enka, with several firms, including Bharat Electronics, RailTel and Godrej Consumer Products, declaring dividends of Rs. 1.25, Rs. 1.25 and Rs. 5 a share respectively.
Dividend histories compiled by Moneycontrol and Goodreturns show that Godrej Consumer Products has paid multiple interim dividends this year, while RailTel Corporation of India and The Ramco Cements have both announced Rs. 1.25 and Rs. 2.50 per share payouts with August 13 ex-dividend dates. Dividends are treated as taxable income for shareholders, and companies are no longer liable for the Dividend Distribution Tax. For resident individuals, tax deducted at source applies at 10% once dividend income crosses Rs. 5,000 in a financial year.
