Himadri Speciality Chemical profit jumps 31% as sales surge, but margins tighten

Himadri Speciality Chemical’s consolidated net profit rose to ₹231.32 crore in the September quarter as total income climbed sharply, although higher costs compressed operating margins.

Himadri Speciality Chemical reported a sharp rise in profit for the September quarter, as higher sales across its main businesses lifted results. In an exchange filing, the Kolkata-based company said consolidated net profit climbed 31 per cent to ₹231.32 crore in the second quarter of FY27, from ₹176.14 crore a year earlier. Total income increased to ₹1,733.32 crore from ₹1,106.96 crore in the same period last year, reflecting a strong improvement in the group’s top line. The company’s diversified business now spans clean power solutions, advanced battery materials and speciality carbon black.

Revenue was led by carbon materials and chemicals, which brought in ₹1,539.02 crore during the quarter, while the power division contributed ₹33.32 crore, according to the exchange filing. Some market reports on the results used the narrower revenue-from-operations figure of ₹1,691.43 crore, rather than total income, but they pointed to the same broad trend: faster sales growth and a healthy increase in profit. Those reports also said revenue rose by roughly 58 per cent from a year earlier, underlining how much the business expanded in the quarter.

Even so, some analysts noted that margins came under pressure as costs grew alongside revenue. Business Upturn reported that EBITDA rose to ₹319.8 crore, but the EBITDA margin slipped to 20.7 per cent from 22.1 per cent a year earlier. Another market summary said the operating margin fell to 17.93 per cent, compared with 22.21 per cent in the same quarter last year. That suggests the quarter’s growth was driven by scale, but not entirely by pricing power.
