HDFC AMC profit rises 4% as revenue growth and tax reversal offset weaker other income

HDFC Asset Management’s September-quarter profit rose to ₹749 crore as revenue and assets under management grew, despite lower treasury and investment gains.

HDFC Asset Management Company reported a modest rise in September-quarter net profit, helped by stronger revenue and a tax reversal even as other income weakened. The fund house said profit after tax rose 4 per cent year on year to ₹749 crore from ₹718 crore a year earlier, while revenue increased 14 per cent to ₹1,170 crore. The improvement came despite a drop in other income to ₹71 crore from ₹96 crore, reflecting softer treasury and investment gains, according to the company’s results.

Expenses also moved higher. Total costs climbed to ₹265 crore from ₹248 crore, led by an increase in employee benefits to ₹142 crore from ₹124 crore. HDFC AMC said it reassessed its income-tax position during the quarter and reversed a provision of ₹47 crore, which added to profit for the period.

The company’s asset base continued to expand. Average quarterly assets under management rose 10 per cent to ₹9.69 lakh crore, with equity-oriented assets up 14 per cent to ₹6.08 lakh crore. Debt assets declined 13 per cent to ₹1.62 lakh crore, while liquid assets increased 10 per cent to ₹86,000 crore. Systematic transaction inflows, a closely watched measure of recurring mutual fund investments, rose 6 per cent to ₹4,800 crore. HDFC AMC also said it had surplus cash and investments of ₹8,746 crore, largely parked in debt and liquid funds.

Broader reporting on the results suggested the company remained on firm footing despite the softer contribution from other income. Business Standard and other market reports said revenue growth and operating performance stayed healthy, while the company’s own release said profit before tax rose 12 per cent and operating profit increased 16 per cent from a year earlier. HDFC AMC also said it held an 11.1 per cent share of quarterly average assets under management and a 12.7 per cent share in actively managed equity-oriented mutual funds for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. Looking ahead, the fund house said it expects to launch products in the special investment fund category over the next couple of quarters and plans to add contra and life cycle funds after recent regulatory classification changes.
