BSE will join the Nifty 50 on September 30, replacing Wipro in a reshuffle that also lifts the exchange operator into the Nifty Next 50 and sets off broader changes across NSE’s benchmark family. According to The Hindu BusinessLine and market commentary reported by The Economic Times and NDTV Profit, the review is expected to trigger passive fund flows into BSE and out of Wipro, while names such as Polycab India, Hitachi Energy India, Vodafone Idea and Indian Hotels move across the wider indices.
The day also brought fresh attention to India’s technology sector after Tata Consultancy Services said it had received threat-intelligence alerts about a possible leak of basic employee data, while stressing that there was no sign of customer systems, customer data or internal operations being affected. In pharmaceuticals, Lupin said it had secured U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval for sodium zirconium cyclosilicate oral suspension in 5 g and 10 g packets, a generic version of AstraZeneca’s Lokelma used to treat hyperkalaemia in adults.
