KFin Technologies introduces AI tool to enhance signature fraud detection in financial services

KFin Technologies launches Klarity, an advanced artificial intelligence system designed to detect signature forgery and improve authentication processes across banking, fund management, and insurance workflows, promising significant efficiency gains and heightened security.

KFin Technologies has launched Klarity, an artificial intelligence tool it says is designed to spot signature fraud across banking, financial services and insurance workflows. The company says the system is built to address two persistent problems at once: forged signatures being passed as genuine and valid signatures being rejected because handwriting changes over time through age, illness or other factors.

According to KFintech, Klarity goes beyond simple image matching by examining micro-stroke details such as pen pressure, curvature speed, stroke entry and exit angles and tiny baseline tremors. The company says that allows the system to identify sophisticated forgeries that might otherwise appear authentic on visual inspection, while keeping the false acceptance rate below 0.01% for high-value transactions and cutting verification time to roughly one-third of current processes.

The tool is integrated with KFin Shield, KFintech’s existing fraud detection platform, and has been extended into registrar and issuer services as well as demat account operations. That includes checks on off-market share transfers, debit instruction validation and changes to bank mandates. KFintech says the software can automate up to 90% of straight-through processing, leaving only difficult cases for human review.

Praveen Shankaran, chief operating officer for domestic fund services at KFintech, said the product is intended to solve business problems at an enterprise level rather than act as a standalone AI feature, with the goal of protecting institutional capital and strengthening investor confidence. The launch also comes as the company says it is the largest investor-solutions provider to Indian mutual funds by number of asset management companies served and the largest issuer-solutions provider by client count, with operations across 18 jurisdictions and a role as one of three central record-keeping agencies for India’s National Pension System. KFintech’s own corporate material says it serves more than 100 million investor accounts and over 3,500 issuers across 180-plus branches in India and 13 countries.
