EaseMyTrip integrates with Apple Pay to enhance digital travel bookings in India

EaseMyTrip becomes a launch partner for Apple Pay in India, aiming to streamline travel bookings and expand its digital payment options, as the service rolls out across merchants including Zomato and Tata 1mg.

EaseMyTrip has been named as a launch partner for Apple Pay in India, joining the rollout of the payment service as the travel platform looks to speed up checkout for its users, according to a LinkedIn post by co-founder Rikant Pittie. Pittie said the move should make booking “faster and more seamless”, adding that small improvements in the booking journey matter to the company.

Apple said in its India newsroom announcement that Apple Pay is now available for users in the country, with initial support for Axis Bank-issued Visa and Mastercard credit cards. Customers can add eligible cards to Apple Wallet and pay across apps, websites and participating merchants without repeatedly entering card details, while Mac support is due soon. Apple also said the launch includes tie-ups with payment providers including Cashfree, JusPay, Mswipe, Paytm, PayU, Pine Labs, Razorpay and Worldline, broadening the service’s reach across merchants and apps.

The India launch places EaseMyTrip within a wider network of businesses already connected to Apple Pay’s local rollout. Reports from technology and business publications said the service is accepted by a large number of merchants, including retailers and consumer brands such as Blinkit, Croma, Ixigo, Tata 1mg and Zomato, reinforcing Apple’s effort to position the product as a broad everyday payment tool rather than a niche travel feature.

For EaseMyTrip, the partnership fits a broader push to improve the digital booking experience even as the company expands beyond its core travel business. The company’s mobility arm has recently begun rolling out electric buses in Bhopal and is aiming to build capacity for 5,000 electric buses a year within five years, but the Apple Pay announcement keeps the focus on travel bookings, where speed, convenience and security remain central to winning customers.
