Cygnet. One launches AI engine to streamline Indian GST invoice classification and input tax credit assessment

Cygnet. One has introduced an artificial intelligence-powered system designed to automate the classification of purchase invoices for GST compliance in India. The tool aims to reduce manual effort, improve accuracy, and provide transparent audit trails, integrating with over 250 ERP systems worldwide.

Cygnet. One has unveiled an AI-powered engine designed to automate how large enterprises classify purchase invoices for goods and services tax and assess input tax credit eligibility. According to the company’s announcement, the system combines GST rule logic with artificial intelligence to analyse transaction data, determine whether credit can be claimed, and produce structured data for GSTR-3B filing, the main monthly return used by many Indian businesses.

The software is intended to reduce the manual work tax teams face when reviewing high volumes of invoices. Cygnet. One said it can identify cases involving reverse charge, imports and blocked credits, while also creating an explainable record of how each decision was made. That audit trail is meant to help finance and compliance teams show why a transaction was treated a certain way, rather than relying on a black-box score.

The launch fits into a broader push by the company into AI-led tax automation. Cygnet. One also markets tools for material master data management, indirect tax compliance and document intelligence, including systems that claim to standardise records, recommend HSN and SAC codes, and extract tax data from documents with contextual understanding. The company says these products are aimed at improving GST accuracy, reducing disputes and easing the strain on enterprise resource planning systems.

In a webinar promoting the new approach, Cygnet. One said AI-driven decision-making could bring greater consistency and audit confidence without forcing companies to replace existing ERP environments. The company also says its tax products integrate with more than 250 ERP systems and are supported across regions including India, the UK, Europe, APAC and the Middle East. As with many vendor claims in the compliance-software market, the practical test will be how well the system performs on messy, real-world invoice data.
