Cashfree launches Apple Pay support for faster, secure payments in India and internationally

Cashfree has introduced Apple Pay support for Indian merchants, enhancing seamless, secure payments for domestic and cross-border shoppers, with potential to reduce cart abandonment and increase international reach.

Apple Pay is now available to merchants using Cashfree in India, giving shoppers a faster way to complete purchases on compatible Apple devices and allowing businesses to add another branded payment option at checkout. Cashfree says the feature is designed to cut friction for customers who would otherwise need to enter card details and complete additional verification steps before paying.

The company argues that the biggest benefit is a shorter path from cart to confirmation. With Apple Pay, customers can authorise payment with Face ID, Touch ID or a passcode, while card details are tokenised rather than shared directly. Cashfree says that reduces the risk of fraud and chargebacks, while also making the checkout process feel more secure and more convenient for shoppers.

Cashfree has also positioned the launch as a way for Indian businesses to reach buyers outside the country. In its product material, the company says Apple Pay support on its international payment gateway is aimed at merchants selling to customers in markets such as the US, the UAE and the European Union. It says the setup can help reduce checkout abandonment, improve authorisation rates and support payments in more than 140 currencies, with merchants still receiving settlements in rupees.

The company says the feature works across its hosted checkout, popup and inline checkout options, as well as custom integrations. That means merchants can switch it on through their dashboard, verify their domain where needed, and process Apple Pay payments through the same reconciliation flow as other card transactions. Cashfree presents the launch as an operationally simple upgrade for sectors including travel, software services and cross-border e-commerce, where payment speed and trust can influence conversion rates.
