Card91 launches SpendFlow to revolutionise enterprise spend management with integrated platform and AI-driven payments

Bengaluru-based Card91 introduces SpendFlow, a comprehensive tailor-made platform for commercial card programmes designed to meet unique corporate requirements, including upcoming AI-driven payment automation.

CARD91 has launched SpendFlow, a commercial card and enterprise spend management platform aimed at issuer banks that serve businesses, SMEs, large corporates and institutional clients. The Bengaluru-based infrastructure company said the new system is designed to address a long-standing mismatch in banking technology: many commercial card programmes have been built on platforms originally created for retail credit cards, leaving banks to patch together features for business users rather than operating on software built for them from the start.

According to CARD91, SpendFlow is meant to handle the different ways companies organise spending, approvals and credit. The platform combines programme configuration, credit management, virtual cards, spend controls, approval chains, supplier payments, billing and accounting in a single architecture. That approach is intended to let banks run centrally governed programmes while still supporting variations for individual corporate clients, including parent-subsidiary structures and layered account hierarchies.

Ajay Pandey, chief executive of CARD91, said commercial card programmes have requirements that differ fundamentally from consumer cards, pointing to the way authority, credit and payments move through enterprise workflows. The company says SpendFlow can issue virtual cards linked to employees, entities, accounts or credit facilities, and can apply controls at corporate, employee and card-account level. It also supports multi-step approvals and supplier payments, extending commercial cards into broader business payment use cases.

CARD91 has been widening its payments infrastructure footprint over the past year. The company’s website describes it as a modular platform provider for banks and other regulated entities, while earlier announcements show a push across UPI and card infrastructure, including the launch of its proprietary UPI switch, Blitz, in January 2025 and the live rollout of its UPI issuance platform in June 2026. It also introduced a 3-in-1 card platform in 2024 that combined ID, access and prepaid functions, underscoring a strategy built around configurable payment products.

The new platform also arrives as CARD91 begins working on what it calls agentic payments, a planned capability that would allow AI agents to initiate and manage supplier and invoice payments within preset controls. The company says the aim is to pair automation with oversight, transparency and trust, though the feature is still in development. For CARD91, SpendFlow broadens its reach from card issuance and UPI infrastructure into commercial spending, where banks are under pressure to offer more flexible tools without sacrificing governance.
